The Ancient Tableby Mexican Growers

Our story · Rooted in Mexico

One ingredient, one story at a time.

Mexican Growers was born from a simple idea: Mexico is home to extraordinary foods worth discovering—and to the people whose knowledge, land and traditions make them possible.

Food carries the story of where it comes from.

Across Mexico, generations of farmers and artisan producers have shaped ingredients through land, knowledge and tradition. Mexican Growers seeks out those foods at their source, learns what makes each one distinctive, and carefully selects those worth sharing more widely.

01

People

We start with the growers and artisan producers who know an ingredient firsthand and understand the practices behind it.

02

Place

Region matters. Climate, soil, local varieties and food traditions help give an ingredient its character and context.

03

Tradition

We look for foods that remain connected to the methods and communities that have kept them meaningful over time.

Michoacán Growers Avocado Seed Powder

Where the journey began

Michoacán Growers Avocado Seed Powder

Our first ingredient still carries the original Michoacán Growers name as a reminder of where the journey started. It established the idea that continues to guide Mexican Growers: go to the source, understand the ingredient, and keep its origin visible.

That first product became the starting point for a wider search across Mexico for ingredients with a strong connection to place, people and tradition.

Founder’s Testimony

The personal journey that started it all.

In 2020, I moved to Mexico looking for a healthier way of living. Surrounded by a culture with deep agricultural and culinary traditions, I became increasingly interested in nutrition and in understanding how the foods and ingredients around us influence the way we live.

During that journey I came across something almost everyone throws away: the avocado seed.

I began researching it, collecting seeds from local restaurants, drying them, grinding them and experimenting with using the resulting powder as part of my daily routine.

At the same time, I was making significant changes to the way I ate and lived. Over time, the transformation in my life was substantial. I lost more than 100 pounds, became considerably more active and developed an entirely different relationship with food and nutrition.

That experience changed the direction of my life.

It made me ask a much bigger question.

For decades I had lived with health issues, chronic pain and inflammation. My back had become so bad that at times I could barely walk, bend down or sleep. Prescription medications—including statins and painkillers—had become a normal part of my life.

Then I changed the way I ate. I began focusing on real, nutrient-rich foods and traditional ingredients. Avocado seed powder became part of my daily routine, along with Criollo cacao beans, mineral-rich Sea of Cortez sea salt and other foods I was discovering throughout Mexico.

Once I introduced avocado seed powder into my life and changed the way I was eating, everything changed for me. I could move again. I could bend down. I could sleep. I became active again after years in which pain had shaped what I could and could not do.

This is my personal experience. I am not saying one ingredient is a cure, and my story is not a clinical study. But what happened in my own life was real, and it was impossible for me to ignore.

Then I took it to Eco Tianguis in Zihuatanejo.

I began taking the avocado seed powder to the Saturday Eco Tianguis organic farmers market in Zihuatanejo. At first I simply wanted to share something that had become important in my own life.

Then people started coming back. Customers living with long-standing health issues told me that adding the powder to their routines had changed their lives. In some cases, I watched the transformation in people I saw week after week. Their experiences echoed what I had experienced myself.

The loyalty of some of those early customers still stays with me. I have had customers in the United States spend around US$150 just to ship a bag that sold locally for about MXN 350. Before the powder became available through Amazon, some told me they would have paid many times the price simply to keep getting it.

A biologist who worked with us at the market became interested enough in the powder to take it to his university for study. He later reported back to me about the richness of the naturally occurring compounds he found.

Later, Dr. Rothman Kam of Auckland University of Technology’s food science department ordered our avocado seed powder, gave it a five-star review, and confirmed to me that our product had been used in his research.

That made me ask: if something as overlooked as an avocado seed could contain this much nutritional potential, what else was being grown, harvested, dried and preserved throughout Mexico that most of us had simply stopped paying attention to?

What began with one seed became something much bigger.

What began with one seed became Michoacán Growers Avocado Seed Powder. We will keep the Michoacán Growers name on this product because it is the founding product that started our journey.

That first ingredient led me to look across Mexico for traditional, nutrient-rich foods and naturally mineral-rich ingredients—foods connected to their place of origin, to the people behind them and to generations of knowledge.

That search became Mexican Growers.
